Earthquake Tremors Felt in Delhi-NCR, no Loss of Life or Property Reported

Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) were rocked by an earthquake late Sunday afternoon.
The earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, had its epicentre near Delhi’s Sonia Vihar area according to National Center for Seismology under the ministry of earth sciences. The location coordinates are latitude 28.7 N and longitude 77.2 E, depth 8 km.
Soon after, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Tremors felt in Delhi. Hope everyone is safe. I pray for the safety of each one of you.”
The quake forced people staying indoors due to the lockdown to rush out of their homes. There have been no immediate reports of damage in the quake.New Delhi and National Capital Region were rocked by earthquake tremors on Sunday. The tremors were felt at 5.45 pm. The tremors lasted for 3-4 seconds. The epicentre of the quake was in East Delhi. As per the initial reports, tremors were felt in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad. The intensity of the quake was measured to be 3.5 on the Richter Scale. In some areas of Delhi-NCR, people rushed into the balconies of their homes and even rushed outside.

There are no reports of large scale destruction of casualty as of now.A massive earthquake shook Delhi-NCR just minutes ago. Tremors were felt all across the national capital region.

Earthquake tremors felt in Delhi-NCR : An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in Delhi shook the national capital region on Sunday, prompting panic-stricken Delhiites to rush out of their homes at a time when the country is under the coronavirus lockdown.PTI reported that as per the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at 5.45 pm on Sunday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in the National Capital Territory – Delhi – itself, and it occurred at the depth of 8 kilometres.No immediate report of any damage was reported, said the PTI report.Earlier, the Indian Meteorological Department had reported that the epicentre of the earthquake was in East Delhi, said IMD.
